Protection Panel > Time Expiration
Time Expiration
With XLSafe you can easily set a time period in which users will be able to access and use your spreadsheets. You can set the time expiration features through the XLSafe protection panel.

|
Note: The time expiration features will never apply on your own computer nor your colleague computers. |
Expiration (Subscription) period
You can choose to set a period (in days) in which the user will be allowed to access the contents of the protected spreadsheet.
In XLSafe PRO files the expiration period is labeled as subscription period. When the subscription period is over, the activation screen will re-appear and your client will be able to enter a new activation key to continue using the spreadsheet for another subscription period term.
|
Note: The expiration period cannot be used if you decide to disable the hardware activation feature. However, you can still set an expiry date as described below. |
Expiry date
The expiry date is set in the format dd/mm/yyyy. When the expiry date has been reached, the users will no longer be able to access the contents of your spreadsheet. In addition, the expiry date supersedes the time limit of the expiration period set above.
You can set both an expiration period and an expiry date for the same spreadsheet. For example, let's assume that the current date is 01/01/2009.
Now let's assume that you set an expiration period of 3 days and an expiry date of 10/01/2009.
The users of your spreadsheet will be able to access its contents for 3 days after they have been authorised to use it with an activation code.
However, if they are authorised to use the file on the 09/01/2009, they will only be access it for 2 days as the expiry date (10/01/2009) will be reached.
In addition, after the expiry date (10/01/2009) the users will no longer be able to activate or use the spreadsheet.
|
Note: The build-in time protection system of XLSafe implies that users cannot change the system clock settings to circumvent this protection. |
