XLSafe PRO Activation Troubleshooting Guide

If you are experiencing difficulties with activating XLSafe PRO on your machine then follow the steps described in this troubleshooting guide.

Pre-checks

- Ensure your anti-virus does not interfere with Microsoft Office files containing macros.

- Ensure you have administrative rights to create and write files in the location C:\DataSafeXL and its subfolders.

- For Vista computers ensure that the User Control Account (UAC) is not interfering with the creation of new files in C:\DataSafeXL.

- Ensure that none of your other Microsoft Excel add-ins are interfering with XLSafe PRO.

- Ensure that you have no hidden workbooks which load up in the XLStart folder of your Microsoft Excel application.

1. Have you installed XLSafe PRO to its default location C:\DataSafeXL\XLSafe PRO\ ?

Note: If you cannot create a new XLSafe file then you need to ensure the following conditions are met for your system:

- Ensure the directory path 'C:\DataSafeXL\XLSafe PRO\Common\unxldat.xls' exists on your hard drive.

- Ensure that you have administrative rights to write and create new files on the abovementioned location.

- Verify that 'C:\DataSafeXL' and all its files and subfolders do not have the 'Read-only' attribute.

- For Vista computers, verify that User Control Account (UAC) does not prevent you from creating and modifying files in 'C:\DataSafeXL' and its files and subfolders.

5. Can you open the newly created XLSafe PRO file successfully ?

After having created a new XLSafe PRO file, close down all instances of Microsoft Excel and open the newly created XLSafe PRO file with macros being enabled.

You should see  the "XLSafe PRO" menu being added in the menu bar (Add-Ins tab for Microsoft Excel 2007).
